On November 21, 2025, Jammu authorities conducted a major anti-encroachment drive in Sikanderpur, reclaiming 130 kanals of state land valued at 50–60 crore rupees, demolishing over 15 structures on 16 acres.
The operation, led by District Magistrate Rakesh Minhas and SSP Sh Joginder Singh, targeted illegal constructions on land with Khasra numbers 308, 389, and 2206, with several individuals booked under the NDPS Act.
Revenue and police officials, supported by central paramilitary forces, executed the drive amid heavy security.
The reclaimed land will be used for public services like Niabat, Patwar Halqa, and Police Chowki.
Authorities also announced plans to deny utilities to unauthorized buildings.
In a separate incident, the SIA raided the Kashmir Times office in Jammu, drawing criticism from political leaders who urged protection of press freedom.
