The Delhi government is upgrading its nearly 280,000-camera CCTV network, initially launched in 2020, to improve public safety, especially for women.
The Public Works Department, which currently manages the system, is completing the installation of 7,300 remaining cameras and will transfer oversight to Delhi Police, moving operations to a new command-and-control center.
The PWD has shared over 12,000 footage records with police since 2020 and outsourced maintenance to Bharat Electronic Limited, with plans to extend the contract.
Residents can request installations via a PWD website form.
