Delhi High Court to hear former minister’s challenge over alleged theft of ₹1 crore painting.
The Delhi High Court has issued notice on a plea by former Minister Bhanwar Jitendra Singh challenging a trial court order that summoned him over allegations of criminal breach of trust related to a 2014 borrowing of an M.F.
Husain painting.
The complainant claims the artwork, valued at over ₹1 crore, was never returned despite requests, though Singh’s legal team argues it was gifted and no return demand was made after 2014.
A lower court had initially dismissed the complaint, but a revision court found prima facie evidence under Section 406 IPC and ordered proceedings.
The High Court has allowed Singh to appear via video conferencing and scheduled the next hearing for April 7, 2026.
