Canada has warned its citizens about heightened risks for adventure travel in Chile, following five tourist deaths in a Torres del Paine National Park snowstorm.
The November 20 advisory highlights dangers from unmarked trails, sudden weather changes, and unreliable safety equipment on small boats and vehicles.
Travelers are urged to use registered tour operators, carry comprehensive insurance with medical evacuation coverage, share itineraries, stay on marked paths, and monitor weather.
Those near borders with Argentina, Bolivia, or Peru must register with Chile’s border authority.
