Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has appealed a lower court ruling that paused the state’s “fake electors” case against 18 Republicans, including Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, who were charged with fraud and conspiracy for submitting false documents claiming Trump won Arizona in 2020. The case was halted after a judge ruled grand jurors hadn’t seen the full text of a state law on election certification. Mayes argues an independent grand jury found sufficient evidence to proceed, emphasizing the need to uphold the rule of law. One defendant pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, and charges were dropped against Jenna Ellis in a plea deal, while the rest have pleaded not guilty. The Arizona Supreme Court will decide whether to review the appeal.
