Actor Winston Chao, 65, returned to the spotlight with a standout stage performance in *Crocodile*, a play by Nobel laureate Mo Yan, premiering in May 2024.
The production, which explores desire and human nature, has toured over 20 cities and played more than 50 times, earning critical and commercial success.
Chao, who had planned to retire and was living quietly in Ningbo, was drawn back to acting by the role of Shan Wudan.
His performance earned him China’s Wenhua Award, making him the first actor from Taiwan to win the honor.
