Pras Michel, Fugees member, sentenced to 14 years for foreign lobbying and campaign finance crimes tied to Obama and Trump campaigns.

Pras Michel, a founding member of the hip-hop group Fugees, was sentenced to 14 years in prison by a D.C. federal court for conspiracy and illegal foreign lobbying. The conviction stems from campaign finance violations during Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign and alleged attempts to influence the Trump administration in 2017. He was found guilty on 10 counts in April 2023 and ordered to forfeit $64 million and serve three years of probation. Michel is set to turn himself in on January 27, 2026.
