A Portuguese dentist, Andreia Funicio, 46, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for creating fake dating and social media profiles using her ex-partner’s identity, leading to relentless harassment, unwanted visits, and a secretly recorded topless video being shared. The victim, a former garda, suffered severe emotional distress, fled to Australia, and required medical treatment. Funicio, who admitted to the relationship but denied the harassment, was linked to the accounts via seized phone evidence. Judge Martin Nolan called the conduct calculated and traumatic, imposing a 20-year contact ban and reducing the sentence due to her guilty plea, clean record, and caregiving duties. The maximum penalty for the offense is seven years.
