Pakistani forces killed 23 militants in border raids after a TTP suicide bombing in Islamabad.
Pakistani security forces killed 23 militants in two raids near the Afghan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to military statements, following a suicide bombing in Islamabad that killed 12 people and was claimed by a TTP faction.
The operations, part of intensified counterinsurgency efforts, targeted militants linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has increased attacks since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021.
No Pakistani military casualties were reported.
The raids come amid deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, ongoing cross-border tensions, and a stalled ceasefire agreement brokered in October.
The UN has also raised concerns over TTP’s growing strength and alleged support from Afghan authorities.
