Nissan Australia to launch electric Frontier Pro ute in 2027, its first PHEV pickup.

Nissan Australia will launch the Frontier Pro, a plug-in hybrid dual-cab ute developed with Dongfeng, in 2027, according to dealer reports and a private event, though Nissan has not officially confirmed it. Based on Dongfeng’s Z9 platform, it will be Nissan’s first electrified ute and global PHEV model, featuring a turbocharged 1.5L engine and electric motor, delivering 300kW and 800Nm, with a 135km EV range and 6.9L/100km fuel consumption. It includes V2L capability, 3,500kg towing, 700mm wading depth, and off-road features. The launch aims to boost sales amid a 17.7% decline and competition from PHEV and electric utes, with additional Dongfeng-based models expected by 2027.
