Everardo Gregorio, 31, of Casa Grande, Arizona, was federally indicted on November 18, 2025, for allegedly setting a fire that destroyed the Khal Chasidim synagogue, along with a kosher grocery store and restaurant, on March 3, 2025. Prosecutors allege the act was a hate crime targeting religious beliefs, carrying a maximum 20-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine. Surveillance and clothing evidence contradicted Gregorio’s claim of being asleep. He previously faced state arson charges. The FBI, ATF, and Casa Grande Police led the investigation. The case is ongoing, and Gregorio is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
