Indian golfer Diksha Dagar defended her Deaflympics gold medal at the 25th Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo, winning the women’s individual strokeplay title with a 11-under 205 total, finishing 14 strokes ahead of France’s Margaux Rezo.
The 24-year-old, who is hearing-impaired, became the only athlete in the world to compete in both the Deaflympics and the Olympic Games, having represented India at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
She credited her success to focusing on approach shots and short game, and thanked her supporters.
Her teammates placed 12th and tied for 14th.
Indian officials hailed her achievement as historic and inspirational.
