Australia has sanctioned Russian cybercrime groups Media Land LLC and ML.Cloud LLC, along with individuals Aleksandr Volosovik and Kirill Zatolokin, over alleged ransomware, phishing, and DDoS attacks. Citizens face up to 10 years in prison and heavy fines for supporting or using their infrastructure. The sanctions follow a 2024 report showing nearly half of Australians experienced cybercrime, including fraud and identity theft, highlighting the growing national threat alongside previous sanctions linked to Alexei Navalny and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
