Winnipeg police have charged 35-year-old Jesse Robert Shawn Wheatland with 22 offenses, including arson and break-and-enter, over a series of fires and break-ins targeting businesses, community spaces, and two Manitoba cabinet ministers’ offices from June to November 2025.
The incidents, which caused property damage and included an overnight blaze at Nahanni Fontaine’s office, led to Wheatland’s arrest on November 18 following a tip and a months-long investigation.
Police say he is cooperating but have not disclosed a motive.
The case remains under review, with authorities emphasizing ongoing safety efforts and urging the public to report suspicious activity.
