The 76th National Book Awards will announce winners Wednesday night at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan, honoring top works in fiction, nonfiction, translated literature, young people’s literature, and poetry.
Finalists include Megha Majumdar’s “A Guardian and a Thief,” Karen Russell’s “The Antidote,” Julia Ioffe’s “Motherland,” and Yiyun Li’s memoir “Things in Nature Merely Grow,” which reflects on the loss of her two sons.
Each category winner receives $10,000, selected by independent panels of writers, booksellers, and critics.
Honorary awards will be given to George Saunders and Roxane Gay.
The event, hosted by Jeff Hiller and featuring Corinne Bailey Rae, brings together hundreds of publishing professionals.
