Nigerian priest Anthony Ekpo named to Vatican role overseeing Catholic international relations.
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Nigerian priest Father Anthony Onyemuche Ekpo, 44, as assessor for general affairs in the Vatican Secretariat of State, succeeding Father Roberto Campisi.
Ekpo, ordained in 2011 and a scholar with doctorates in systematic theology and canon law, has served the Holy See since 2016 and most recently held a leadership role in the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
Fluent in four languages, he will now help manage the Holy See’s relations with Catholic international organizations.
This appointment follows another recent Nigerian appointment within the Vatican.
