Saint John police have charged 25-year-old Mackenzie Moir with first-degree murder in the Oct. 20 shooting death of 41-year-old John "Robert" Beshara. Moir, a federal parolee previously incarcerated for firearm and obstruction offenses, was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant after failing to return to a halfway house. He appeared in court via video from federal custody and faces additional charges of unlawful firearm possession. Two other men, Kieren Lopez and Hunter Floyd, are already charged with first-degree murder and remain in custody. The investigation into the motive and circumstances is ongoing.
