Kenya receives ballot papers for upcoming by-elections amid trust concerns and legal challenges.
Kenya’s IEBC has received the first batch of ballot papers for the November 27, 2025, by-elections, with 10 pallets arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and 29 more expected the same evening.
The ballots, printed in Greece at a cost of Sh27 million, will be distributed starting November 21, with remote and high-risk areas to receive them by air.
All 51 political parties were invited to observe the delivery.
The by-elections cover 24 electoral areas, including a Senate seat and multiple county and ward positions.
IEBC cited distrust in local printers despite their capacity as a reason for foreign procurement, noting the ballots now include over 11 security features.
