Indian PM Modi attends G20 summit in South Africa, focusing on growth, climate, and tech.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is traveling to Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 21 to 23 for the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit, the first hosted by an African nation and the fourth in the Global South.
He will speak in all three main sessions on economic growth, climate change, and future technologies, hold bilateral meetings, and attend the IBSA Leaders’ Meeting.
The summit, attended by leaders from 19 countries and regional blocs, represents about 85% of global GDP.
Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced a boycott, citing human rights concerns, while South Africa’s High Commissioner noted the G20’s growing independence.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is also attending, marking his first visit to South Africa in over ten years, and plans meetings with leaders including Modi.
