India is on track to reach 1 billion 5G subscriptions by 2031, with 5G penetration expected to hit 79%, according to Ericsson’s November 2025 Mobility Report.
By the end of 2025, India is projected to have 394 million 5G users, or 32% of all mobile subscriptions, driven by high data usage averaging 36 GB per smartphone monthly and affordable 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) services.
