EU court rejects Amazon’s challenge to 'very large platform' status, upholding stricter rules.
The European Union’s General Court has dismissed Amazon’s challenge to its designation as a "very large online platform" under the Digital Services Act, upholding the EU’s requirement for Amazon to comply with stricter rules due to its over 45 million monthly users in the bloc.
The court ruled the regulations, which mandate greater transparency, data access, and efforts to combat illegal content, are justified to protect users and ensure digital safety, despite Amazon’s claim they infringe on fundamental rights.
Amazon said it is disappointed and plans to appeal.
