A Christian nonprofit has sued Quebec City over the cancellation of a July 2025 worship event featuring U.S. evangelist Sean Feucht, claiming the city violated free speech and religious expression rights by canceling the public gathering just one day before it was to occur.
The group, Burn 24/7 Canada Worship Ministries Society, says it paid a rental fee and followed all procedures, but the city cited undisclosed "controversial" aspects of Feucht’s views and reputational risk.
The lawsuit, filed by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, seeks damages and a declaration that the cancellation breached constitutional rights.
The case is pending in Canadian courts.
