Russia exported two Su-57 fighters to Algeria, marking first sale of its fifth-gen jet despite sanctions.
Russia has delivered two Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jets to a foreign buyer, marking the first export of the advanced aircraft, according to United Aircraft Corporation CEO Vadim Badekha, who confirmed the jets are now in combat service.
The deal, finalized in late 2024, is believed to involve Algeria, which has been training pilots in Russia.
The export demonstrates Russia’s continued production capacity despite Western sanctions, though the Su-57 remains in limited numbers and is used sparingly in Ukraine.
Russia is also offering India unrestricted technology transfer for the Su-57E variant, including licensed production, integration of Indian weapons, and advanced systems like AESA radar and AI, as part of deepening defense ties ahead of President Putin’s expected visit.
