Registered nurses at Houlton Regional Hospital began a two-day strike on November 18, 2025, over staffing shortages, patient safety concerns, and stalled contract negotiations.
The 55 nurses, represented by the Maine State Nurses Association, cited long ER wait times, deliveries in the emergency room due to the maternity unit’s closure in May, and inadequate staffing—especially at night—as key issues.
