Paul Ince sentenced to 8 years for fatally punching John Ithell, 59, in unprovoked attack.
Paul Ince, 31, was sentenced to eight years in prison for the manslaughter of John Ithell, 59, after punching him in the face during an unprovoked attack in Wrexham on June 12, 2023.
Ithell, who had mistakenly gone to Ince’s flat seeking drugs, fell and suffered fatal head injuries, later dying from a cracked skull.
The attack occurred in a backyard, and he was found unconscious hours later.
Despite Ince’s denial, a jury convicted him following an eight-day trial.
Judge Rhys Rowlands labeled the assault as "mindless drunken aggression" and noted Ince’s lack of remorse.
Ithell’s family described him as a beloved father and grandfather, and expressed relief at the sentence, which requires at least two-thirds to be served in custody.
North Wales Police emphasized that a single punch can be fatal and reaffirmed their commitment to holding violent offenders accountable.
