A volunteer program called the Peony Volunteers has launched at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester, offering bedside companionship, emotional comfort, and practical help to over 30 patients and their families since September.
Supported by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity and The Anne Robson Trust, the initiative has contributed nearly 50 hours of service and is expanding hospital-wide, with plans to extend to Alexandra Hospital in Redditch by 2026.
Volunteers, trained to provide quiet presence and listening, are praised for enhancing palliative care.
An information session for new volunteers is set for January 13, 2026.
