Louisiana has become the first state to receive federal approval for $1.355 billion in BEAD funding, enabling it to expand high-speed internet to all parishes by 2027.
The state will work with 14 service providers, 70% based in Louisiana, to connect 130,000 unserved locations, using a mix of technologies including satellite to reduce costs.
Construction is expected to begin by year’s end, with the state citing progress from 80% to 90% connectivity since 2024.

Montana also received approval, securing over $300 million to expand broadband to 68,000 locations and 180 community institutions.
