Hildegarde Naughton appointed Ireland’s new Education and Youth Minister after Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe resigned to join the World Bank.
Hildegarde Naughton has been appointed Ireland’s Minister for Education and Youth in a cabinet reshuffle following Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe’s resignation to join the World Bank.
The appointment, formalized in a ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin, marks Naughton’s first ministerial role since President Catherine Connolly took office.
She was sworn in by President Connolly, who presented her with the seal of office, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the President offering congratulations.
Naughton, a former primary school teacher and Fine Gael TD from Galway West, becomes the first from her constituency to hold a senior cabinet position.
Her appointment signals a key transition in Ireland’s government, with new leadership in education and finance, and follows the historic appointment of Helen McEntee as the first female Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Hildegarde Naughton fue nombrada nueva Ministra de Educación y Juventud de Irlanda después de que el Ministro de Finanzas, Paschal Donohoe, dimitiera para unirse al Banco Mundial.
