A 24-year-old man, Jack McGrath, died in a workplace accident at a BlueScope Steelworks site in Port Kembla on November 17, 2025, after a steel beam allegedly fell from a crane.
He was working as a contractor for Ventia when the incident occurred, and emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene.
McGrath, described as a devoted son, brother, and uncle, had spoken to his mother just before the accident.
His family and community are grieving, with tributes highlighting his kindness and love for cars, four-wheel-driving, and his dog.
The incident is under investigation by SafeWork NSW, and a report will be sent to the coroner.
BlueScope and Ventia have not commented.
