Conservationists, including Devon Wildlife Trust and partners, say connected woodlands, hedgerows, and prey like voles and rabbits create ideal conditions for wildcats, which could help control rodent and invasive species. While no immediate release is planned, the South West Wildcat Project aims to reintroduce at least 50 wildcats over time, pending community engagement and solutions to challenges like interbreeding with domestic cats.
