Watercare is repairing two key pipelines under the Auckland Harbour Bridge to prevent heat damage, affecting two-thirds of the North Shore’s water supply in stages.
Watercare has started Stage 2 of repairs on two 1.2-kilometre watermains under the Auckland Harbour Bridge, replacing roller supports to prevent temperature-related damage.
The work, in two phases from November 18–21 and December 2–4, will temporarily shut down one pipeline at a time while the other remains active, with reservoirs pre-filled to maintain supply.
The pipelines serve about two-thirds of the North Shore’s drinking water.
Repairs follow Stage 1 completed in May and are part of a $350 million annual renewal program.
Work occurs during daytime hours under the bridge walkway with minimal noise disruption.
Watercare supplies 440 million litres daily to 1.7 million people and continues investing in infrastructure to protect public health and the environment.
