UN aid flows resumed at Gaza's Zikim crossing after reopening, with over 5,400 tonnes delivered amid flooding and urgent needs.
UN humanitarians began collecting aid at the newly reopened Zikim crossing in northern Gaza, the only functioning route into the area, following Israel’s decision to restore it.
Between Thursday and Sunday, over 5,400 tonnes of supplies—including food, tents, tarpaulins, blankets, medicine, and animal fodder—were gathered from all three active crossings.
Severe rains caused widespread flooding, affecting about 13,000 families, prompting urgent aid deliveries.
Teams distributed at least 9,000 tents, 83,000 tarpaulins, and 59,000 blankets.
Food distributions are set to resume at full scale, providing two food parcels and one bag of flour per household, after earlier restrictions due to delays and limited access.
OCHA stressed that aid efforts remain constrained by insufficient supply volumes entering Gaza.
