Three men arrested in NY for bribing a juror in boxer Goran Gogic’s drug trial with up to $100K.
Three men were arrested in New York for allegedly attempting to bribe a juror in the federal drug trial of former heavyweight boxer Goran Gogic with up to $100,000 in cash to secure a not-guilty verdict.
The FBI uncovered the plot, which involved multiple meetings and recorded conversations in Albanian and English, leading a judge to dismiss the jury just before opening statements.
Gogic, a Montenegrin national, faces charges related to smuggling cocaine from South America to Europe via cargo ships, with three intercepted shipments totaling nearly 18,000 kilograms and a street value exceeding $1 billion.
The trial will resume in about a month with a new anonymous jury.
Gogic has pleaded not guilty and could face 10 years to life in prison if convicted.
