Singapore seized 35.7 kg of rhino horns, valued at $867,430, in its largest wildlife trafficking bust, intercepted at Changi Airport on November 8, 2025.
The horns, from white rhinos and originating in South Africa, were hidden in four shipments labeled as furniture fittings, detected after a cargo handler noticed a suspicious odor.
Alongside the horns, about 150 kg of other animal parts were found.
The seizure surpasses the previous record of 34.7 kg from 2022.
Singapore, a CITES signatory, enforces strict penalties including fines up to S$1 million and up to eight years in prison.
The horns will be destroyed to prevent resale.
