Ontario police shut down four illegal cannabis labs on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, charging 34 with 74 offenses and seizing $200M in plants and contraband.
On November 17, 2025, Ontario police concluded a major anti-drug operation on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, charging 34 people with 74 offenses related to illicit cannabis production.
The investigation, running from September 23 to October 7, uncovered four illegal growing sites, seized over 118,000 cannabis plants valued at more than $200 million, and confiscated 3.7 million contraband cigarettes, 35,600 kg of fine-cut tobacco, THC extract, and equipment worth $358,000.
Authorities said non-Indigenous organized crime groups exploited the territory, with most profits not benefiting the local community.
The OPP’s Asset Forfeiture Unit is reviewing proceeds of crime, and police urged the public to report illegal activity through the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
