A Montana man was arrested after a standoff involving a stolen car, a loaded gun, and resistance to officers.
David Darrow Russo, 45, of York, Montana, was arrested on November 14, 2025, after a standoff with law enforcement near Beaver Creek and Owl Gulch Road.
Authorities were called over a reported broken-down vehicle with a possibly impaired driver, but the vehicle was stolen and a loaded firearm was missing.
Russo allegedly ignored commands, revved the engine, and pointed a firearm at officers, prompting the SWAT team to use flash bangs, pepper spray, and a police K-9 to subdue him.
He faces three felony assault with a weapon charges and one felony theft charge.
His initial court appearance was delayed due to non-cooperation and rescheduled for Tuesday, when bond and arraignment will be set.
Penalties include up to 20 years in prison and $50,000 in fines for assault, and up to 10 years and $50,000 for theft.
