A $40 million biomanufacturing facility is being built at Iowa State University’s BioCentury Research Farm in Boone, with a 2027 completion date.
Part of BioMADE’s national network, the 15,000-square-foot site will produce food-grade ingredients like prebiotics and sweeteners, as well as bioplastics and defense materials.
Funded by $20 million from BioMADE, $10 million from ISU, and $10 million from Iowa’s economic development authority, the project aims to bridge lab research and large-scale production, strengthen domestic supply chains, and create high-quality jobs.
It will serve as a training hub for future bio-processing professionals and support U.S. innovation in biotechnology.
