Microsoft Azure blocked a record 15.72 Tbps DDoS attack from the Aisuru botnet on October 24, 2025.
Microsoft Azure repelled a record 15.72 Tbps DDoS attack on October 24, 2025, the largest in its history, launched by the Aisuru botnet—a TurboMirai-class network of compromised IoT devices.
The attack, originating from over 500,000 IP addresses across multiple continents, peaked at 3.64 billion packets per second using UDP, DNS, and NTP amplification.
It targeted an Australian customer and was mitigated within minutes by Azure’s automated defenses, which leveraged real-time machine learning and global scrubbing.
The Aisuru botnet, which expanded rapidly after a firmware server breach in April 2025, has also been linked to other massive attacks, including a 22.2 Tbps incident in September.
Experts warn of escalating threats from unpatched devices and call for improved security and international collaboration.
