Michigan gets $255K to help transfer students earn associate degrees by tracking their credits.
Michigan has awarded a $255,000 grant to improve the reverse transfer process for community college students who transfer to four-year universities.
The funding, through the Michigan Association of State Universities, will develop a data-sharing system with the National Student Clearinghouse to track student progress and allow transfer students to earn associate degrees upon meeting credit requirements.
The initiative aims to boost retention and completion rates, support student success, and help Michigan reach its goal of having 60% of working-age adults hold a credential by 2030.
The system is expected to be operational in one to two years.
