McLaren has added 14-year-old Ella Hakkinen, daughter of former F1 champion Mika Hakkinen, to its Driver Development Programme, making her the youngest driver on the roster.
The Finnish karting standout, who has earned wins and podiums across Europe and impressed at the 2024 Champions of the Future Academy, will begin testing single-seaters in 2026, with a potential entry into junior racing by 2027.
The team also confirmed a second car in the F1 Academy for 19-year-old Ella Stevens, the only woman to win Britain’s top karting title, alongside Ella Lloyd.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown highlighted the initiative as part of the team’s broader push for greater female representation in motorsport.
