Industrial designer Abidur Chowdhury, who helped create the iPhone Air, has left Apple for an AI startup.
Abidur Chowdhury, the industrial designer behind Apple’s iPhone Air, has left the company for an unnamed AI startup, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
His departure, confirmed by sources familiar with the matter, is not linked to the iPhone Air’s sales or reception, which Apple expected to be modest.
Chowdhury, who joined Apple in 2019 and was prominently featured in company presentations, played a key role in shaping the device’s design.
His move reflects broader talent shifts at Apple, including other high-profile exits to firms like OpenAI’s io, which is developing a screenless, pocket-sized device.
Apple has not commented on the departure.
