A 32-year-old Guatemalan house cleaner, Maria Florinda Rios Perez de Velasquez, was fatally shot on Nov. 5, 2025, in Whitestown, Indiana, after she and her husband mistakenly went to the wrong house for a cleaning job.
She had not entered the home when the homeowner, Curt Andersen, 62, fired through the front door.
Andersen was charged with voluntary manslaughter, with prosecutors saying his actions didn’t meet Indiana’s Stand Your Ground standard because there was no reasonable threat.
