Four students and staff were stung by a bee swarm during a fire drill at a Phoenix-area school, prompting safety closures and hive removal.
On November 17, 2025, four students and several staff members at Queen Creek Junior High School in Arizona were stung by a bee swarm during a fire drill on the school’s athletic field.
The swarm originated from a 70-pound hive with over 80,000 bees, found near the field and removed by 5:15 p.m. Officials believe a football may have disturbed the hive.
No one was hospitalized, and all affected individuals received care and were reported safe.
The field remains closed for safety inspections, and the school district is notifying parents and prioritizing well-being.
