Dublin Airport’s ad claiming to halve emissions was ruled misleading by Ireland’s ad watchdog, as it only covered airport operations, not flights.
Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) must revise a radio ad claiming to halve "airport emissions," as the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI) ruled the wording was misleading.
The complaint, led by MEP Lynn Boylan, argued the phrase suggested broader aviation emissions were being reduced, when the cuts only applied to DAA’s direct operations—like ground vehicles and solar energy—excluding aircraft emissions.
DAA maintained the term was accurate and aligned with national climate goals, stating the ad was informational, not promotional.
The ASAI upheld the complaint for the radio version only, recommending clearer language to avoid public confusion, while acknowledging DAA’s commitment to sustainability.
El anuncio del Aeropuerto de Dublín que afirmaba reducir a la mitad las emisiones fue juzgado engañoso por el regulador de anuncios de Irlanda, ya que solo cubría las operaciones aeroportuarias, no los vuelos.
