A 25-year-old contractor died in a workplace accident at BlueScope Steelworks in Port Kembla on November 17, when a steel beam being lifted by a crane fell and struck him near the No. 5 Stockhouse. Emergency crews, including a rescue helicopter, responded and recovered the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. NSW Police and SafeWork NSW are investigating, and BlueScope said it is cooperating and supporting affected parties. A report will be submitted to the Coroner.
