Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan open a cross-border trade zone to boost bilateral trade to $2 billion.
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have launched the Shavat–Dashoguz cross-border trade zone, a 6-hectare facility with simplified customs, visa-free access, and shared infrastructure, as part of efforts to boost bilateral trade beyond $1 billion and toward a $2 billion target.
The zone, formally inaugurated by both presidents, supports regional economic integration through joint industrial projects, expanded transport links, and plans to replicate the model in other border areas.
Officials also agreed on a legal framework and a roadmap for cooperation, including regular high-level meetings and expanded energy and logistics initiatives.
