Two Samajwadi Party leaders jailed for 7 years over forged PAN cards used to meet election age rules.
Senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam were sentenced to seven years in prison each on November 17, 2025, by a Special MP/MLA court in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, over a 2019 case involving dual PAN cards with conflicting dates of birth.
The court found them guilty of forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy, citing bank records, official documents, and witness testimony.
The conviction stems from allegations that Abdullah’s PAN card was obtained using a false birth date to meet electoral age requirements, with both accused acting in a conspiracy.
They were taken into custody immediately after the verdict.
The case was filed by BJP leader Akash Saxena, who hailed the ruling as a win for justice.
The Samajwadi Party called it politically motivated.
Both men may appeal the decision.
