Singapore blocked MalaysiaNow for refusing a Pofma correction order on a false article about a drug execution.
Singapore has blocked access to the Malaysian news site MalaysiaNow for refusing to comply with a Pofma correction order issued on November 15, 2025.
The directive required MalaysiaNow to publish corrections for a November 9 article about the execution of drug courier Pannir Selvam Pranthaman, which Singapore authorities deemed to contain five falsehoods, including claims that the execution violated the rule of law.
Despite multiple reminders, MalaysiaNow rejected the order, calling it an overreach.
In response, Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority enforced a block on the site, while correction notices were mandated for Meta, LinkedIn, and X to appear for Singapore users accessing the content.
The actions reflect Singapore’s ongoing enforcement of Pofma to combat online falsehoods affecting public order and international relations.
