Poland’s Baltic Power wind project installed its first locally made turbine nacelles, advancing its offshore wind industry.
Poland’s Baltic Power offshore wind project has installed the first locally manufactured turbine nacelles at Vestas’ Szczecin facility, marking a milestone for the country’s emerging offshore wind industry.
The three 15 MW turbines, part of a 76-turbine, 1.2 GW project, feature nacelles built in Poland with support from Denmark, employing over 600 workers.
Installation began in July using Cadeler’s O-class vessel, with the project expected to generate up to 4 TWh annually—about 3% of Poland’s electricity demand—by 2026.
The site, 23 km off the coast near Choczewo and Łeba, uses recycled steel to cut carbon emissions by 10% and aims for over 21% local content.
