On November 16, 2025, over 60 people braved cold, rainy weather in South Lake Tahoe to participate in the annual Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge, raising more than $25,000 for Special Olympics Northern California.
The event, hosted by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, supported programs that provide sports and community opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Participants, including local residents, families, and law enforcement, wore themed costumes and described the experience as uplifting despite the chilly conditions.
Funds will help cover equipment, facilities, and event operations.
